Abby Hermosilla
Curator, Museum of Modern Art
Abby Hermosilla is a curator and arts administrator interested in the study and stewardship of born-digital and computer based-art, championing the field’s artist-driven models for networked circulation and tracing its conceptual legacies in performance and time-based media installation. Her research closely considers the emergence of new technologies in artistic practices across the hemispheric Americas since the mid-20th century.
She currently works as a curatorial assistant in the departments of Curatorial Affairs and Media and Performance at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. She recently organized an exhibition and performance program of Samia Halaby’s digitally-based kinetic paintings and coordinates the permanent collection galleries dedicated to artwork from the 1980s-present at the Museum. Hermosilla previously worked at the Art Bridges Foundation in Arkansas and holds degrees in art history from Kent State University in Ohio.
