Michelle Kuo
Chief Curator, MoMA
Michelle Kuo is a curator, writer, and art historian who serves as Chief Curator at Large and Publisher at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, a role she was appointed to in 2024. In this position, she leads interdisciplinary curatorial work on temporary and collection exhibitions, digital initiatives, research, scholarship, acquisitions, and directs MoMA’s global publications program.
Kuo joined MoMA in 2018 as the Marlene Hess Curator of Painting and Sculpture, organizing and collaborating on significant exhibitions such as New Order: Art and Technology in the Twenty-First Century and Signals: How Video Transformed the World, among others. She has written widely on contemporary art and technology and has lectured internationally.
Before MoMA, she was editor-in-chief of Artforum International from 2010 to 2017 and has taught at Harvard and Yale universities. Kuo earned her BA from Stanford University and a PhD in the history of art and architecture from Harvard University.
