Sandra Jackson-Dumont
Cultural Strategist, Curator, and Educator
Sandra Jackson-Dumont is a curator, museum educator, scholar, author, and cultural leader known for her influential work shaping how museums engage diverse audiences with art and ideas. Over a career spanning more than two decades, she has held leadership roles at major cultural institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (where she served as Frederick P. and Sandra P. Rose Chairman of Education and led extensive public programs and community engagement initiatives) and the Seattle Art Museum (as Deputy Director for Education and Public Programs and Adjunct Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art). She has also worked at the Studio Museum in Harlem and the Whitney Museum of American Art, developing exhibitions and educational experiences that connect art, artists, and broad communities.
Jackson-Dumont previously served as Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, overseeing curatorial, educational, public, and operational planning for the institution devoted to storytelling through visual art. Her work is grounded in expanding access, inclusion, and meaningful engagement in cultural spaces, and she has taught and lectured at universities including Rhode Island School of Design and New York University. A native of San Francisco, she holds a B.A. in Art History from Sonoma State University and an M.A. from Howard University, and she is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
